With its strongly sulfurized natural springs, which was already used in Roman times, Montbrun les Bains was a renowned spa town during the second half of the 19th century. While the spa was experiencing great popularity, the Marquess "de Suarez d'Aulan", equerry of Napoleon III, built in 1865 a thermal spa inspired by the one of Baden-Baden (Germany) where he was taking the waters.
Montbrun becomes an important spa town as an example in medical circles. The First World War was unfortunately fatal to the activities of the establishment which could not reopen after the conflict. In the years 1980 the municipality decided to revive the Hydrotherapy activities, and thanks to the fierce determination of the mayor, the new spa has opened their door on May 1987. The new building was constructed smaller and beside the old baths, which was became a private property (actually a residence-hotel).
Previously specialized in the treatment of respiratory diseases, the spa now has a rheumatology service and offers treatments indicated in osteoarthritis, rheumatism (periarticular, abarticular, inflammatory), osteoporosis, trauma sequelae , etc ...
In 2006 a brand a new building was needed to accommodate spa guests more and more numerous. Wider and modern, the thermal spa own a wellness center including spa pool, steam room, sauna, panoramic terrace with Jacuzzi, stretching group classes, gym and aerobics and offers numerous packages adapted to your needs.
During the morning the spa is reserved for medical purpose, but it's open to everyone (above 12 y.o) all the afternoons, 7 days a week.
The spa area is open from Monday 14 March to Sunday 13 November 2016 inclusive, 7 days out of 7, including sundays and holidays. The thermal spa and the wellness are open to the public all the afternoon, from Monday to Friday from 14:30 to 19:00, Saturday from 14:00 to 19:00 and Sunday from 13:00 to 18:30.
